Competitive Edge Coatings now offers hydrographic services in Connecticut. Hydrographics is a method of transferring printed images to three-dimensional items. At some point in time you have probably seen a hydrographic item, but have not realized it. Hydrographics in CT can be used on a multitude of materials including but not limited to: plastic, glass, metal and wood.
We start our CT hydrographic process by pre-treating and adding a base coat to the item. The graphic to be transferred is printed and an activator chemical is sprayed on the film to activate a bonding agent. The item is then lowered into the vat with the film which wraps around and adheres to the piece. A top coat is then added to the item to seal and protect the design. These steps are repeated multiple times until the entire surface of the item is covered.
