Halar® ECTFE is a partially fluorinated semi-crystalline polymer which offers a unique combination of permeation resistance, mechanical properties, thermal and chemical resistance, and versatility.
Halar® ECTFE which is manufactured by Solvay Solexis is a melt processable fluoropolymer. Halar’s unique combination of properties is credited to its chemical structure, which is a 1:1 alternating copolymer of ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene.
Halar® coatings provide you with outstanding chemical resistance. It is resistant to: strong mineral and oxidizing acids, metal etchants, liquid oxygen, alkalis, and essentially all organic solvents with the exception of hot amines. Halar® coatings offer good electrical properties, meets the requirements of UL-94V-O vertical flame test in thicknesses as low as 7 mils (0.18mm), a broad use temperature range (from cryogenic to 300°F (150°C)), and in some cases meets USP Class VI and FDA food contact (21 CFR) requirements. Halar® coatings provides you with a tough material with excellent impact strength.
Its characteristics have made Halar® the choice material for many applications across a wide array of industries. Halar® coating has been widely utilized in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and microelectronics industries for chemical resistance. Since 1990 Halar® powder coatings have been utilized for corrosion protection of exhaust duct systems that are required to meet the FM 4922 fire safety standard. Halar® coatings have also been used in ultrapure water (UPW) systems to replace PVDF sheet linings.
You can see that Halar® is so versatile it can be used for almost any application. Contact Competitive Edge Coatings in CT to get a price for your Halar® Powder Coating project.
